About Archive
India is well known in the world as an ancient nation. Various scholars from abroad used to come at ancient Takshashila and Nalanda University for study. Contemporary knowledge on various subjects was compiled and stored in the libraries of these universities. But due to foreign invasion these great universities were perished and the ancient literature was destroyed. However, even today many institutes are having rare literature in their libraries. There is a need to bring these rare & valuable literature to people. Mr. Jagdish Gupta, President of Sipna Shikshan Prasarak Mandal fond of reading and has a curiosity to learn about ancient knowledge. Because of this, his friend Mr. Bhiwapurkar, a distinguished person from Amravati, gifted a total 105 ancient and rare books in his possession to Sipna Shikshan Prasarak Mandal. In order to preserve these books for future generations and to make it available for the scholars and researchers, Jagdish Bhau decided to digitize these books and make them accessible through internet. For the purpose, necessary digitization tools were procured and action taken for digitization of books under which about 40000 pages are scanned. All rare books are digitized and appropriate keywords are set to facilitate easy search of any book available in this digital archive. ‘Sipna Digital Archive’ is an initiative to collect written materials containing the traditional knowledge of India related to ancient Indian science, technology, linguistics, yoga, art, literature, culture, management and administration, etc. and digitize the same to make accessible for the society.
